JEM has released an audio recording of the Rebbe emotionally reciting Slichos prayers on the fast of the Tenth of Teves.
The clip is narrated by Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi, famed Mashpia of the Central Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch Yeshiva at 770 Eastern Parkway.
He was a Yeshiva student at the time when the Rebbe was in the year of Aveilus for his mother, Rebbetzin Chana Schneerson OBM.
On the 10th day of the Jewish month of Teves, 425 BCE, the armies of the Babylonian emperor Nebuchadnezzar laid siege to Jerusalem. This day has been commemorated as a public fast day since.

These heart rendering sobbing and cries took place (on Asoro B’Teves 5725 – 1964) in the Zal upstairs.
The photos are from 5722 – 1962, in the “new” shul downstairs (which was still in middle of construction), and are for illustration purposes.
