Plans for the 10th Annual Empowerment Breakfast of Ulster County Chabad, in association with the Ellenville Jewish community and Camp Emunah, for this Sunday, July 22, has not been changed, COLlive was told.
The annual event brings together Jews from Upstate New York to honor elected and law enforcement of?cials and will be honoring Rebbetzin Chave Hecht for her 60 years of leadership.
Camp Emunah in Greenfield Park for Chabad girls was established in 1953 by her and her late husband Rabbi JJ Hecht, following the directorship of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Today, more than half of the 300-acre property is being utilized for the exciting programs and healthful activities with 3 divisions, 3 swimming pools, multiple sports ?elds and courts, dozens of bunks, staff houses, dining room and kitchens and activity buildings.
In addition, Camp Emunah sponsors a Travelling Teen Camp that operates on the West Coast from Vancouver to the Mexican border for a four-week program.
Yet, currently on the minds of the Hecht family is the health of her 15 year-old great-grandson Shneur Chaim Yitzchok Alexander ben Nechama Dina, suffering from a terrible infection ravaging his body.
Tehillim and prayers are being said in Emunah and in Chabad camps around the world with the family hoping for a miracle.
Organizers of the Breakfast told COLlive.com that the event will continue as planned and the Rebbetzin Hecht will be asking participants to join her in prayer at Congregation Ezrath Israel in Ellenville, NY.
Open to the public, the program will start at 9 AM and a catered brunch will be served as the 60th Anniversary/Jubilee of Camp Emunah is marked and the legacy of her legendary husband is recognized.
Rabbi and Rebbetzin Hecht were pioneers in summer camping, and many camps that later followed have often turned to Rebbetzin Hecht for her guidance and mentorship in helping develop their camps.
Other honorees: Captain Bob Nuzzo of New York State Police Troop F Zone will receive the Public Safety Award; Assemblywoman Jeanette Provenzano, who is an Ulster County legislator, will be presented the Public Service Award, and New York State Assemblywoman Claudine Tenney will receive the Community Service Award.
The event is open to all of community members and Anash, to RSVP email [email protected].
