The Rebbe’s seforim printed to date, that fill many shelves, are an incredible picture.
What was once 150 seforim is today closer to 300 printed volumes of the Rebbe’s sichos, maamarim, igros, reshimos and farbrengens. And as the years go on more of the Rebbe’s previously unpublished works are continuing to be printed.
From all these books, however, one set stands out as unique. It’s the largest of all the sets and the closest to the original.
“Sichos Kodesh” – a 50 volume set containing the original transcripts of the Rebbe’s farbrengens spanning the years 5710-5741.
Unique in its original form, these books were transcribed throughout the years by various choizrim, who immediately after the Rebbe’s farbrengen would attend a chazara, after which together they would pen a transcript of the Rebbe’s words at the farbrengen in their original Yiddish.
The set is also unique in that the transcribers varied throughout the years and did not all belong to a specific organization.
The ‘hanachos’ of the years 5710-5726 were mostly authored by Reb Yoel Kahn, under no official organization. This changed in 5725-5726 when Reb Avraham Gerlitzky began penning personal hanachos for friends and family members. When word got out, Reb Bentzion Shemtov provided an office in 770 for Reb Avraham, insisting that the organization become official, which it did – under the leadership of Reb Noske Wolff – much to the skepticism of many elderly chassidim.
Thus began the Vaad Hanachos Hatmimim, throughout the years hosting many bochurim in its editorial team, notably (-5741) Rabbis Leibel Shapiro, Zev Katz, Yossi Hecht, Hirshel Notik, Dovid Feldman and Simon Jacobson. Rabbis Feldman and Jacobson would take on lead roles in the Vaad from 5735 and 5740 respectively.

I got my set YEARS ago when Yoske Greenberg (Alaska) & Gershon Eichorn sold it for $770…. Which was cheap back then.
does anybody know where i can find a sample of it, maybe one of the pages to see how the new print looks?
Is this set newly typeset with digital type, or is it a photocopy of the previous typewriter/mimeograph printing?
