Did you ever want to own a replica of the iconic red chair the Rebbe used over the years in 770 Eastern Parkway during davening and farbrengens?
Well, Mordechai Regev, a Berslov chossid in Israel, can make your dream come true.
According to a report in Yedioth Yerushalayim, Regev has been selling reconstructions of chairs used by known Chassidic rebbes, living or deceased.
Wooden chairs he has built based on the original chair of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, which is placed in the Breslov shul in Mea Shearim, is selling for $2,000 a piece.
And now he want to enter the Lubavitch market as well.
After checking the dimensions of the original chair, still located in 770, Regev had the replicas constructed by hand from mahogany wood and finished by carvers in Australia.
“This is the chair on which the Rebbe sat at public events after the passing of his wife,” Regev told the Isreali newspaper, noting that he intends for the chair to be sold to Chabad centers.
“One chair has already been commisioned to the Chabad House in Kfar Chabad and we are expecting more orders from around the world,” he said.
The price? $770 each.
How about all of you spending the same amount of time writing this rubbish doing mivtzoim or learning chitas and rambam that will give the Rebbe true nachas
How many people know these Kings because they sell replicas of their furniture? Hundreds of Millions. Maybe billions. That many people should know of our King too. King Moshiach Chairs all the way.
just look at the person making it. if he is making a replica of the rebbe’s chair and thinks it will sell, it shows that we are so mekusher to the rebbe because he thinks that for sure lubavitchers would want to buy a replica- its the same as the rebbes! so this really shows a kidush lubavitch
for the two RebbeS?? two chairs..?
guys, this will make everything so sensitive less!
imagine growing up in a home with a chair like that and then u come to 770- oh one like my house- becomes nothing special!
and dont compare it to 770- its simply not the same. for many reasons!
use ur brains!
If you want the chair. You simply dont get it.’
B’H
Something is telling me that this Breslov Chosid is taking Lubavitchers for dummies! How is it possible that he could think one second that this ridiculous idea would attract and lead many of us to buy his product? If he knew the respect we have for our dear Rebbe, he wouldn’t come with such idea! I’m quite sure that even crazy Meshichistim won’t buy it (as they believe the Rebbe is alive in 770, and not be found elsewhere and more particularly not at the Ohel!)
how can i get it ?! whats the contact info ? Im getting 2 !
A chair has no special Kedusha. Except the chait the rebbe sat on. So replicating a chair is shalow and has no meaning. Do you think when moshiach comes the Rebbe will not be able to sit on a regular chair other than this?
However the building of 770 was with the rebbes brachas and is Gematria Ufaratzta and is holy after all b/c it is a shul once it is built. So you can not compare a chair toreplicating the 770 building.
Either the rebbe means something to you, and you would never DARE by such a s chair — which would show that you missed the point of EVERYTHING he stood for, because he would have been appalled to see this.
Or
These sensitiveness don’t bother you, in which case, why would you spend $770 on a chair??
Seeing the Rebbe’s replica chair in Rabbi Dunin’s home. It certainly wasn’t used, it was preparation for yemai Moshiach so the Rebbe would feel comfortable.
because 1. its a shul not your house. 2. the rebbe suggested the replica first. 3. everyone walked into 770, no one else other than the rebbe sat on the chair.
i was in a furniture store in bp walking aroung looking for a dining room set when all of a sudden i walked into this room and saw the same exact replica. not kowing the exact purpose it still sent shivers down my back. i asked the store pwner what this is all about and she said we made it as a replica for the rebbe’s chair and they made dozens of them thinking that we would actually buy them all in a matter of no time. i then asked so nu, how many did you sell so far? to… Read more »
this is freaking hilarious!!!
throwing away my 12 old chairs
buying 12! i hope to get a discount!
The Rebbe ZY”A sat on that chair iat Farbrengins well
before the Rebbetzin’s passing In 1974 photographer
Neal Folberg photographed the Rebbe at a Farbreng
wiith the chair’s arm showing. The photo is black and white.
You don’t know history. The replica of 770 was with a bracha.
The point is, if you are doing something truthfully or not.
The Rebbe asked for the 770 replica, it is truthful.
Learning more chassidus earnestly is truthful. Copying for its own sake is not so.
that was exactly 10’s point
Just a few years ago there were people attempting to sell replicas of the Rebbes chair. They even brought a copy to 770 on Yud Shevat to try to sell. It obviously didn’t sell then, and it won’t now either.
Just as ridiculous of the copies of 770 that are built. I love when some shliach builds a replica of 770 that totally doesn’t match the architecture of their city and it looks like an eyesore.
the more tangible objects of inspiration and education will have for today’s generation that never saw the Rebbe, the more real their hiskashrus will be. But I must admit, would be eerie sitting on it. How about every city using one as kisei shel eliyahu hanavi?
I think no. 11 is a true follower of the Rebbe and may we all continue to learn from the Rebbe’s teachings.
Thank You! Precisely the point!
We are taught that when we look at a picture of The Rebbeim, that inspires us to do what is right.
Why do we need a piece of furniture for a reminder?
to #10 wake up and smell the coffee we are very in to replica’s and doing things the way the rebbe did.Did you ever count how many replica’s of 770 there are around the world?Did you ever wonder were the minhag to have a knatch in your hat or to were your gartel high and long came from?
was the first one to do such a thing – he once asked the rebbe if the rebbe could come to his house (in israel!) and the rebbe told him that when moshiach comes he will visit every jewish home, so reuven prepared a chair for the rebbe…
i think it’s a beautifull thing
it’s a nice thing to have in your house ready for the rebbe to come inside!!
That’s just pushing it! It’s so disrespectful to the Rebbe! Its one thing to have it as chinch for your children (and even that is questionable) yet its quite another to have it as your dining room furniture for your own comfort!
BS:D I would not want one but how come no negative comments about the numerous replica 770’s worldwide,
how odd, how shallow. obviously an outsider
Why’s the chair any different? This is a legitimate business. You’re jealous you didn’t think of it first. I want 8 around my dining room table.
Lubavitch turning into breslov I have been saying that for years.Hopefully we can last as long as breslov without seeing our rebbe everyday.
ridiculous!!!!!!!!!
how about emulating the Rebbe ziya in his RUCHNIUS – frumkeit, ehrlichkeit, chassidishkeit, etc etc etc. why are you only worried about gashmius?
…that this is what we’re all about!
…that the Rebbe would be happy with chassidim koching in a replica of his chair
… that this is normal!
maybe we should all wear replica’s of the Rebbe’s clothes too?
and maybe make a replica of the Rebbe’s house?
and the same shoes too?
where did the Rebbe get his Kapote from?
its not bakovodik-it’s nor something to replicate for your house, its like having a replica of one of the keilim in the bais hamikdash
Commenter 1 is correct, and I highly doubt he will sell any chairs.
In the meantime he should focus on furniture people are looking to buy!!!
If it gave you chills – That could be good inspiration to do what the Rebbe wanted every time you looked at it!
agree with you….
its a money making business
I totally agree with #1. I cannot imagine anyone wanting this in their house. The ‘only’ thing I can think of, is if somebody wants to use it for ‘kisei shel eliyahu hanavi’, but even then, I don’t know…………
It is as ridiculous as the fake dollar and Kos Shel Brocho taking place in 770.
The Rebbe is not McDonald or any other commercial product. The Rebbe is the Rebbe, and who is going to sit in a chair ressembling the Rebbe’s? It seems that certain people trying to make some dollars on the Rebbe’s back. Now, if it’s for exposition or things like that, maybe, but just maybe…
I am buying one, no question. I want my house ready for the Rebbe!
Why would I want the Rebbe’s chair in my house?
I wouldn’t chill in it, eat in or even daven in a chair that resembles the rebbes.
The rebbe is not a super hero or hollywood celebrity.
It would give me chills to have a chair like that in my house.
