American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) recently (re)released a video of The Living Legacy Conference in 1995 in response to numerous requests from Shluchim and Chabad communities.
The international conference marked the awarding of a Congressional Gold Medal honoring the lifetime of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of blessed memory.
The event was held in Washington, DC, in 1995 – 5755, and in addition to a presentation by the President of the United States at the White House, events featured the Speaker of the House, Congressional leaders, senior White House officials, diplomats and international figures, prominent literary personalities, and leading rabbis and communal figures who joined shluchim and their guests from numerous countries and locations across the US in a truly historic event.
Among those featured: Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, Rabbi Adin Even Yisrael (Steinsaltz), Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel a”h, philanthropist Mr. Ronald O. Perelman, violinist Mr. Yitzhak Perlman and Senator Joe Lieberman.
