In honor of Hei Teves, a rare postcard written by Rabbi Chaim Elazar Shapira of Munkatch, known as the ‘Minchas Elazar of Munkatch’ was presented to the Central Chabad Library at 770 in Crown Heights.
The postcard, which was written 91 years ago on 6 Teves by the Minchas Elazar to his relative Rabbi Elazar Shapira, was gifted to the Library by hatomim Shmuel Butler.
The postcard was shown on display at the Hei Teves Book fair and exhibition for over twelve hundred Talmidim in Oholei Torah. An emphasis was placed on teaching the talmidim about the importance of Chassidim gifting Seforim and manuscripts to the Rebbe’s Library as per the Rebbe’s request following Hei Teves.
A select few students had the opportunity to present the postcard on this auspicious day to the chief librarian of the Rebbe’s Library, Rabbi Sholom Ber Levine. Rabbi Levine noted to the students the Rebbe’s great reverence for the Minchas Elazar evidenced by the countless times he’s quoted throughout Likkutei Sichos.
The days following Hei Teves were designated by the Rebbe as days of Segula–an opportune time to request blessings. Utilize these days and support the Rebbe’s Library.
