Book Smart, a new six-week educational program by JLI, provides a panoramic overview of 3000 years of Jewish learning. Students will explore the different genres that shape Jewish literature, including Tanach, Midrash, Talmud, Halachah, Philosophy, Kabbalah, Musar, and Chassidus. Participants will also experience a taste of what it’s like to engage in a Talmudic debate, unpack a philosophical conundrum, and decipher a kabbalistic text from the Zohar, all whilst meeting the influential personalities behind these iconic texts.
Classic Jewish texts will be presented in an accessible and meaningful way to fellow Jews, regardless of background in Torah study. This new groundbreaking course will empower participants to discover a Jewish book that talks to them.
Book Smart promises to offer an enjoyable and intellectually stimulating journey, providing valuable context for all future Jewish learning.
As we mark Hei Teves, a day dedicated to Jewish books and learning, Book Smart presents the perfect opportunity to bring the joy of Torah to your community.
