Justin Ashley is a race car driver with the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association, the largest auto racing organization in the world) and a student and friend of Rabbi Yonason Biggs of Chabad of Great Neck in New York.
On Hoshana Rabbah, he was participating in the Stampede of Speed, a ten-day festival of music and racing in Dallas, Texas leading up to the NHRA Texas Fall Nationals.
“The Rebbe has often quoted the Midrash that says that the Lulav is the symbol of victory of the Jewish people after the judgment of Rosh Hashana,” Rabbi Biggs said.
Rabbi Biggs arranged for a Lulav and Esrog to be brought Ashley, with the help of Rabbi Baruch Hecht of The Intown Chabad in Dallas.
Ashley then sent him 2 photos – one with the Lulav set by the car and the second with the trophy because he won the race!

This is an awesome story! I love it!
His father Michael, a former world champion race car driver, is also connected with Chabad.
