Rabbi Yechiel Ziskind, a long-time resident of Boro Park and key figure in the kashrus of Vaad Harabonim of Queens, has passed away Wednesday, 21 Kislev 5773.
He was 80.
He was the son of the late Chabad chossid, Rabbi Avrohom Ziskind OBM, Rosh Kollel of Crown Heights, which operated under the Rebbe’s secretariat.
He studied in his youth in the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch. The Rosh Yeshiva was his uncle Rabbi Mordechai Mentlick. Another uncle was R’ Moshe Pinchos Katz, the gabbai of the 770.
Rabbi Ziskind worked at the kashrus department of the Vaad Harabonim of Queens. He was also the rav hamachshir at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
He and his late wife Leah (Lillian) Ziskind were close family friends of R’ Mendel and Sarah Shemtov and R’ Shimshon and Martha Stock, all of blessed memory.
He is survived by his children Mrs. Shterna Sarah Werner of Boro Park, Mrs. Rivka Rausman of Monsey, NY and R’ Yosef Yitzchok Ziskind of Boro Park; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
he is also survived by his siblings Rabbi Sholom Ber Ziskind of Boro Park, Mrs. Esther Fishman of Boro Park and Mrs. Leah Goldberg, wife of Rabbi Yaakov Goldberg, Rosh Yeshiva of Hadar Hatorah in Crown Heights.
The funeral will take place Thursday, 22 Kislev, leaving from Shomrei Hadas Chapels at 10:00 am passing by 770 Eastern Parkway at approximately 10:45 am. He will be buried in the Chabad section of the Old Montefoire Cemetery in Cambria Heights, Queens.

Mrs. Leah Goldberg will be sitting in Crown Heights on Friday from 10-1 at 1396 Carroll St.

I’ve never saw such devotion from his daughter sterna and son in law lipa and their kids they never left his side those. Months in the hospital we can all learn the mitzva Kobe’s av.
I still buy a lulav and esrog by the Ziskinds and always looked forward to seeing them. It was an annual trip that I loved because I got to spend some time with two beautiful neshamos who created such a wonderful and devoted family
I remember when he was born in NJ on the street by Rabbi Shotheimer. I remember him as the most beautiful baby, many, many years ago. Baruch Dyan Emes.

May he be a malitz Yosher for the family that didn’t leave his bedside for sixteen months.THe care was not only then they required Fulltime care.I know of a mechanech when he discusses kibud av he discusses the Werner family.
i remember how proud Reb Yichel was when his son came into the office and became a masgiach.
Reb yechiel always wanted him to become a Masgiach but he wanted to try other avenues, in the end he came to work for his father. Reb Yechiel was very happy that he finaly came to work in Hasgacho.

R’ Yechiel was a very close friend of Horav Kehos Weiss Z”L. On the day of R’ Kehoses wedding R’ Yechiel was in hospital.

wat a big loss to a man hu spent his life learning all day a man hu you can talk to in every aspect of shas ect.helped build kashres in america may it be a melitz yoshar for the hole family and our dear friend yossel hu in him i see wat a great upbringing he had
Reb Yeciel O”h suffered from polio and he still worked hard every day. Not only was he able to live a bakovidike life but he even got to help establish his devoted son in hashgacha where he has a very good reputation.
I worked for him 30 years ago b4 it was in style to check lettuce for bugs and how he used to come to the kitchen screaming that we have to check for bugs

I did not know him personally but I saw his family in Maimonides. You will never see such a devoted daughter son in law and einiklach KA”H. He must have been a real tzadik to be zoiche to that. May he be a mailitz yoisher.
