Rabbi Shea Hecht, a public figure in Chabad and the Chairman of the NCFJE, met on Friday, October 21st with Max Coen and Yitzchok Rimler of the Crown Heights Republican Committee to go over the Crown Heights Republican Committee’s endorsement of Lee Zeldin for Governor.
Then he gave his own endorsement stating:
”As the Chairman of NCFJE, and as someone whose family has long been involved in political races, can choose no candidate other than Lee Zeldin. As I told him in our first meeting, that come November 8th, I am casting my ballot for him.”
He went on to say, “there are two primary issues that affect us on a daily basis, public safety and yeshiva education, and Lee Zeldin is the right candidate for both those issues.”
Shea Hecht has long been involved in political affairs in crown heights, and this endorsement comes along with a surge in the polls for Zeldin making the race an official “toss up”.

So good to hear a voice of sanity! Would hope that our community will start to vote for those that will stand for the issues that are important to us and not just for a party!
Thank you Rabbi Hecht for doing the RIGHT thing !
Thank you for your leadership!
Better late then never hope other so called leaders in the crown heights community will follow and openly back Lee zeldin
Now only if the CHPAC would follow suit …
Rabbi Hecht,
It’s important for us to mobilize and give your massive communal standing this endorsement carry’s much weight. Hopefully this will save out yeshivah from the onslaught of the liberal agenda.
By “liberal agenda” you mean the law? Lol so much for the right being about “law and order.” Hahaha
The law in Russia was that you couldn’t have more than a few children learning Torah together, for example. Do you think that our forebears gave a fig for that kind of law?
Sixty years ago, in Democrat-run states, racial discrimination was the law. Does that mean you would have been in favor of it?
How very convenient to bring up law under Russia a hundred years ago which did untold damage to so many to talk about something completely different here.
The only problem is the two systems are completely different, but why should that stop you?
You’re the one who decided to claim that the law is sacrosanct and that how could we be against it. I countered with cases where it’s not so. Now you want to claim that it’s not just any law, only certain ones.
Man up and admit that you painted with too broad a brush, because taking a crack at others is more important to you than kosher chinuch, and then we’ll go from there.
Finally there is hope.
Thank you Rabbi Hecht for endorsing Mr. Zeldin. Hope everyone will follow.

Finally someone in ch with brains!
