Rabbi Shalom Ber Gansburg, who served as a devoted Mashbak in the Rebbe and Rebbetzin‘s home for many years, passed away on Wednesday, 17 Cheshvan, 5784.
He was 86.
Rabbi Gansburg was born on the 11th of Tammuz 1937 to his parents, Rabbi Shneor Zalman and Batsheva Gansburg (nee Karasik).
He began his work as a Mashbak in the year 1953 when he was called to serve and help in the home of the Frierdiker Rebbe. Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka who noticed his dedicated work, asked him to help in the home of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin as well.
From the year 1971 he began to devote all his time to work in the Rebbe’s house. In the year 1979, at the instruction of the Rebbe, he moved to live in the home of the Rebbe and the Rebbetzin. The Rebbe used to send confidential objects through him on Shabbos evening to deliver to the secretary Rabbi Chodakov. Whenever the Rebbe distributed dollars, Kuntreisim, Tanyas, and the like, the Rebbe would give him double what he distributed to everyone, saying: “Double to his resourcefulness”.
He was also privileged to live in the Rebbe’s house for a number of years and eat Shabbos meals with the Rebbe and the Rebbetzin.
He cared for the Rebbe’s home for many years with great devotion. In recent years he was responsible for the operation of the Rebbe’s room in 770 Eastern Parkway.
He is survived by his two children, Levi Yitzchok and Chanie, and siblings, Yitzchok Gansburg, Mendel Gansburg, Chaya Sara Zarchi, and Rivky Majeski of Crown Heights.
The Levaya will take place today, passing by 770 at 1:00 pm and burial at Montefiore Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
The family is sitting Shiva at 814 Eastern Parkway.
Baruch Dayan Ha’emes.

Special Zechus
Great CHASSID, in 2008 I got seriously ill, I asked Rabbi Ganzburg if I could go privately into the Rebbe’s Room, he told me come back at 9:00 pm when no one is around and opened the Rebbe’s door and room so I could have a few minutes of prayer, and Thank G-D I healed completely
in my experience of him.
I daven slowly, definitely slow in comparison to those in the Rebbe’s room…
R’ Gansburg was understanding and would give me extra time
One one occasion he came to meet me and my wife so my wife could go in the Rebbe’s room privately on her birthday
There was something different about him, he seemed to know your story and be able to treat accordingly…
May the Rebbe go to Hashem for him and make sure he is always treated with kindness, rachmunis and simcha (he always had a smile for me)
Would he hum der pilpul at the early Shachris minyan on shabbos morning in 770 waiting before Shmona Esrai for the minyan to be ready? Or was that someone else? Have memories from 10 years ago…
