The 6-week online parenting course “Parenting from the Inside Out” has helped nearly a thousand parents, many of whom have called the course “life-changing.” What many people do not know is how this course came about. With his regular travels speaking all over the world suddenly halted during the 2020 shutdown, Rabbi Shais Taub found himself looking for a project to focus on.
“I thought I would write another book,” says Taub. But he was approached by the Friendship Circle of Michigan and asked if he could condense his years of experience consulting with parents and turn it into an online course for the Zoom platform which was then becoming so popular. “Rabbi Levi Shemtov from the Friendship Circle sold me on the idea that a parenting course would have massive, far-reaching impact on the wellbeing of individuals and communities. He had a great vision. I became very excited about the idea of educating parents in order to improve not only families but the entire world. And this is the grand vision that propelled the project the whole time.”
In March of 2020, Rabbi Taub and a team began to design a 6-week curriculum that would address much of the parenting issues that parents have turned to him to ask about over the years. After a year of refining the curriculum with over twenty test groups of parents meeting on Zoom, the course was finally made available to the general public last year just after Pesach and for a second time just after the High Holidays.
This week, the class will be offered publicly for the third time with women meeting on Wednesday nights and men meeting on Thursday nights. Spaces are limited as the course is much more than just a weekly presentation from Rabbi Taub. Rabbi Taub interacts with every participant who reaches out to him during the course and there is even a special WhatsApp group moderated by Rabbi Taub during the course where parents can discuss with him the ideas presented in the classes. Because of the interactive nature of the course, there is a limit as to how many men and women can take the course at one time.
This course is appropriate for parents of children of all ages.
