It has been a busy few days for Rabbi Yacov Barber, a Chabad Shliach in Melbourne, Australia for over 30 years, who currently resides in Crown Heights.
In honor of Yud Tes Kislev and Chanukah, Rabbi Barber led farbrengens at Chabad of Midtown by Rabbi Yehoshua Metzger then in Teaneck New Jersey by Rabbi Ephraim Simon and finally in Crown Heights at Chevrah Ahavas Yisroel.
The evenings included the launch of his new book Wit and Wisdom subtitled ‘What the weekly parsha teaches us about life’. The thoughts are based on his weekly parsha online video series since 2016.
The themes are, predominantly, drawn from the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe and Chassidus with an added dash of humor and personal experience. Some of the remarks in response to the lectures included, ‘His words are so moving with much Wisdom and Comfort to anyone who has lost a loved one! Wish I knew this 37 years ago but I do now and I will keep listening to their songs from heaven’!
On parenting: ‘Finally an answer to an age old question. Beautifully presented and so logical. Thank you. (Where were you when we were raising our four children – this was ohas ften a battle) Again my profound thanks’.
Finally on Marriage; ‘Every couple should listen to this at least once a year. I will review this often and have sent it out to everyone I know, Jew and Gentile alike. It is that good!’
This is the second book Rabbi Barber has published. The first, titled “Generation to Generation” is an anthology on the Hagaddah.
Both books are dedicated in loving memory of his late wife Rivkie who passed away in 2014. It can be ordered here
