Rabbi Osdoba: We Are Searching For a Third Rov

Rabbi Garelik has been paskening my Sha’alos for many years and never asked me for a penny.

Additionally, a rov is not a money making business and even if it was there’s not enough money in the world that would make it worth it for anyone to become a Rov.

What we need is Ba’ale Batim that understand that a Rov is someone who is given over Lev V’nefesh to the community and gives up his ability to enjoy life so he can serve the community.

It’s not state senator. Look in hilchos dayanus for more clarification on the qualifications necessary, and that’s only the beginning. The rabbonim have to determine that any candidate has the requisite qualifications and practical experience. People can decide who they like and prefer, but people cannot just decide that someone is qualified to be a rov. This should be easy to understand.

Being a rov is no simple feat.
He must be able to cope in a cold sometimes frigid environment.
He must maintain his energy even when he is surrounded by dead animals.
He must be noticeable and stick out.
The packaging must be nice and of course he has to be fresh.
He has to be kosher lmehadrin with lubavitch shechita.

Rabbi Bluming Great Candidate!

Son in law of Rabbi Heller Shlita

Its important to know
May 14, 2020 10:37 am

That while many of the qualities mentioned are important it is equally important that the 3rd person be someone that will complete the beis din, so that all 3 will work together side by side… each with their unique personality and respecting each other.

Don't make the same mistake again!!
May 14, 2020 10:46 am

The rebbe wanted elections for rabbonim.
When the rabbinim were first elected who decided if they were “worthy” candidate?

Does the av beis din own the beis din?

A great mistake was made in crown heights when rabbi shvei was made the only canidate running unopposed, in effect a vote for or against was the only option.

That is not even a Communist election.

In order to have legitamcy there must be fair and open elections.

I think this is kind of disrespectful
May 14, 2020 10:50 am

firstly like some mentioned give 30 days The other thing to consider is that the rabbonim forsure want a 3rd person. They are overloaded. But right now everyone is in isolation and we need to get through this crisis. When things settle down then there could be elections Furthermore please be respectful to rabbs braun and osdoba Firstlt they are mourning the loss of rabbi schwei they are overwhelmed with problems and shaalos right now In order to choose a rov they need to speak to each other They need to reach out to potential individuals who will need to… Read more »

Badatz Crown Heights is a myth, unfortunately of course A. 3 people however learned and capable cannot run a whole community. That is why there isn’t Badatz of Borough Park or Badatz of Williamsburg. Those communities are too large and diverse for a single entity to claim to represent them and cater to their needs.
