TAG – You’re IT! It might sound like a children’s game, however, it’s anything but … It’s the motto for a Florida school – TAG Academy – that has met incredible success in the short two years since its inception.
As the school prepares for its third year, in addition to being the acronym for Torah, Avoda and Gemilas Chasadim, TAG Academy has already established itself as the go-to Yeshiva for boys ages 14-18 who need or desire individualized attention, a caring hanhala and a schedule that allows for bochurim to experience and enjoy learning without the overbearing pressure students face in the more traditional school settings.
The Yeshiva was founded by three prodigious educators – Rabbis Pinny Andrusier, Aizik Chanin and Zalmy Raksin – whose understanding and sensitivity for the needs of today’s teenagers is second to none. TAG’s focus on each boy’s personal growth and individual health, is accentuated by its emphasis on nurturing mentchlechkeit even more than academics.
And now they are excited to announce that Rabbi Levi Blizinsky is joining the TAG Team.
Blizinsky, who has spent the past 15 years educating teens – at JETS in California and the last five as principal of Bais Menachem in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania – is renowned for his rapport with the students and his remarkable knack for keeping teens motivated and inspired.
Two summers ago, the rabbinical foursome all worked together in Florida to run the famed VIP summer program. It was a great success with 65 boys enrolled.
What makes TAG most unique?
First, TAG is hosted on the beautiful 6.5 acre lakefront campus of Chabad SW Broward in Cooper City, Florida. The relaxed setting, beautiful accommodations and wonderful amenities have proven to be incredibly inviting for students to excel in their studies. The students dorm in large spacious rooms, each adorned with a private full bathroom.
Throughout the day, boys can choose to attend a traditional class or be seen studying one-on-one with the rabbis or Shluchim at tables overlooking the scenic lake or in the brightly illuminated shul/study hall. TAG also offers its students many outlets for sports, exercise and wellness – physical, spiritual, mental and emotional. The campus also features a basketball court, pool, workout room and rec center.
Many hands-on activities, exciting trips, sporting events and special excursions are also planned. Helping run Jewish Heritage night for the Miami Heat basketball team and the annual Yud Shevat ski trip to NY are some of the highlights.
However, what makes TAG truly stand out is once again, the exceptionally caring faculty. The “TAG Team” of Rabbis Pinny, Aizik, Zalmy and now Levi, joined by a very dedicated staff of Shluchim … bring together a masterful team of educators, each with years of experience in educating today’s teenagers and being especially in-tune and sensitive to each individual’s emotional well-being and personal needs.
While many students “fall through the cracks” and get “lost in the system” …. At TAG – Your child is IT! Just ask any of the alumni, or query any of their parents. They happily sing the school’s praises, sending messages and emails expressing gratitude for a child that is finally happy in Yeshiva and maturing in emotional, academic and spiritual growth.
