Rabbi Don Avraham Rotenberg, an educator in Los Angeles for many years and more recently of Crown Heights, passed away on Wednesday night, 5 Teves, 5786.
He was 72.
Born in England, he later served as a teacher and a principal in Los Angeles for many years. For the last 15 years, he and his family have been residents of Crown Heights.
He is survived by his children, Kaila Schaffran – Crown Heights, Naftoli Rotenberg – Crown Heights, Dini Hecht – Crown Heights, Malky Goodman – Florida, Shmulie Rotenberg – Boston, Bassy Tauby – Toronto, Mushky Messing – Boca Raton, FL and Yaakov Rotenberg – New York, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He survived by his brother, Aryeh Rotenberg of England.
He was predeceased by his wife Channie Rotenberg (Levitin).
The Levaya will take place tomorrow, Thursday, 10:45 am passing by 770, 11:30 am at Old Montefiore Cemetery.

He was real nice person. He was a real tzaddik. He was a real good teacher at yavneh Hebrew Academy years ago back.
He raised a beautiful family.
I have warm sweet memories of Rabbi Rotenberg as my 6th and 8th grade rebbi at Yavneh Hebrew Academy. As an educator today, I use many of his classic lines and humor in my classroom. May his memory be a blessing to the entire family.
Always knew him as Danny. Grew up together thru primary school in London. Went hiking as teenagers and even got to the top of Ben Nevis together, the highest mountain in the UK. Danny moved on to even greater heights and knowing how lively he always was, certainly passed on his joy for life and Yidishkeit to all his fortunate talmidim. We visited each other in Yeshivas in Eretz Yisroel. We might have each moved on to different pastures, but memories of him always remained as lively as the days we did things together.
