Rabbi Abba Dovid Gurevitch, who served as a Shliach and Chief Rabbi of Central Asia for many years, passed away on Friday, 16 Shevat, 5785.
He was 88.
Rabbi Gurevitch was a Chassid who dedicated himself to educating many students with self-sacrifice in Soviet Russia, and served as the Rebbe’s Shliach in Uzbekistan for several decades. In recent years, he resided in the Chabad neighborhood of Nachlat Har Chabad in Israel.
He influenced many in the ways of Torah and Yiddishkeit as a Chosid and educator, with thousands of students.
He is survived by his wife, Rebbetzin Malka Gurevitch, and children: Rabbi Baruch Gurevitch – Chicago; Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Gurevitch – Los Angeles; Bracha Gansburg – Kfar Chabad, Israel, and many grandchildren.
The Levaya took place today in Israel.
