R’ Shilem Kuratin, known as “R’ Shilem” or “R’ Shilem Disner,” was born in Disna around 1885, he entered the yeshiva as a young man after initially studying in a secular gymnasium. Initially he was met with skepticism due to his background, however, through hard work and devotion to avoda he became a “chozer” for the Rebbe Rashab and was of the famous oivdim. Later, R’ Shilem was appointed as a mashgiach and primary mashpia, becoming a pivotal influence on the yeshiva’s students. Tragically, R’ Shilem passed away in his early thirties from a severe respiratory illness.
