R’ Aharon Hakohen Blesofsky, a beloved longtime resident of Crown Heights and a baal menagen who composed one of the Rebbe’s birthday niggunim, passed away on Shabbos, 6 Elul, 5785.
He was 74.
Known for his uplifting personality, sense of humor, and deep dedication to Chabad niggunim, he brought joy and inspiration to all who knew him.
From a young age, he was a familiar presence in 770, assisting his father, Shneur Zalman Blesofsky, who served as the gabbai. He was involved in the early construction of 770 during the 1960s and was strongly connected to the upstairs zal, where he often led Seder haniggunim together with Rabbi Yoel Kahn. A gifted baal menagen, he also composed some of his own, including the Yud Aleph Nissan niggun Ohev Hashem (Kapitel Pey Zayin), in honor of the Rebbe’s 86th birthday.
After marrying Sara (née Hurwitz) in 1975, the couple settled in Crown Heights, where they raised a large family. He left a lasting impact on many bochurim through his farbrengens, his memories of the Rebbe, and his years in 770.
He is survived by his children, Avremel Blesofsky – Scotch Plains, NJ, Levi Blesofsky – Yorba Linda, CA, Chanie Kravitz – Hollywood, FL, Shmuly Blesofsky – Crown Heights, NY, Mendy Blesofsky – Crown Heights, NY, Zeldy Blesofsky – Crown Heights, NY and Boruch Sholom Blesofsky – Crown Heights, NY.
His wife Sara Blesofsky passed away in 2011.
He is also survived by his siblings, Yehudis Engel, Mimi Furst, Libby Zweibel, Faigy Rubenfeld and Yehuda Blesofsky.
The Levaya will take place on Sunday, passing 770 at 12:00 pm, burial in Montefiore Cemetery at 1:00 pm.

My life was saved by Aharon. He pulled me from a swimming pool when I was just 8 years old. I was pushed in the pool, but couldn’t swim. I am forever grateful. I am a father and grandfather today.

Aharon Blesofsky was a wonderfully bright light in a ever changing complex world.Like a boulder in a chaotic river, you could not sway him to change no matter the outside pressure. He always stood consistently strong with his virtue, genuineness, kindness & strong conviction to the truth. His humor & sharp wit where legendary. He will definitely live on in the countless fond memories of all who delighted in his luminous company & his beautiful children. My comfort & condolences to his family for their loss, he was truly one of a kind.
Best,

Reb Aharon will long be remembered as one who stood-up, thundered the truth and championed kindness. He strongly objected when bluff and injustice were promoted, -regardless the stature of the perpetrator. The interesting thing was, that the usual suspects were be careful not to carry-on if he was present. The פסוק says that this virtue helps bring the גאולה, — we are so ready. Moshiach now! No doubt that he will be a מליץ יושר, a loud voice לפני מרן דבשמיא on behalf of כלל ישראל.
