Purim this year at Chabad Youth in Melbourne, Australia, was spectacular with many programs provided for all ages. The joy of Purim was shared in over thirty nursing homes which were visited by community members. Thousands of Jews were touched with the celebratory message of the festival and were also given the opportunity to partake in the four Mitzvot of Purim.
Primary children enjoyed Purim with celebrations in school, including an entertaining play about Purim, followed by Hamentashen making and mask decorating.
Two hundred High School Girls travelled to Mordiallic Skateworld to celebrate Purim. With a Mexican themed fiesta including a variety of Mexicans foods, all the girls had a great time playing Purim games on wheels.
Beth Rivkah Old Collegians had their own Purim Trivia night with a professional trivia company providing great entertainment. Sushi making and great spirits made for a great evening!
Hundreds celebrated Purim at the Red Carpet themed Daminyan community event. Entertained by a humorous comedian, Daminyan members enjoyed a delicious BBQ, finger food and festive dancing with a DJ.
One hundred University students enjoyed a Bollywood themed 3 course scrumptious Indian dinner on Purim. Students joined for Megillah reading and the four Mitzvot of Purim, followed by dancing with a silent disco and an open bar. The Chabad on Campus event was a great way for international exchange students to meet a variety of people from the community. Chabad on Campus looks forward to this Friday night’s grand welcome back dinner, beginning at 7pm at 1 A’Beckett St, East St Kilda.
Fifty teens from a range of backgrounds attended the Chabad Sparks Silent Rave Purim party. The teens displayed great dance moves whilst listening to funky Israeli beats in their personal headphones. The Megillah was recited after the Silent Rave and the Mitzvot of Purim were performed by all. The party concluded with the guest appearance of energetic party entertainer Andy Antics. Andy soaked everyone with water cannons, launched rockets and pumped real energy into the party. Everybody left a little wet but feeling spiritually and physically charged.
