Purim 2023 in Rostov was a sight to behold!
Gathering together with Jews across all ages and denominations, the entire community celebrated together with a public Megilla reading, a live dramatic performance, music, entertainment, delicious food, and more. The energy in the room was palpable, as young and old rejoiced together in their 150 year old Cantonist Synagogue.
One community member remarked, “I haven’t seen this many Jews in our Shul since 1990 right after the fall of communism, when every Jew was discovering Judaism for the first time!”
Due to the current situation, many non-affiliated families who previously had never come to shul, were seen bringing their children to Shul for Purim for their very first time. More than ever, so many families are turning to the Jewish community for material and emotional support, and to reconnect to their roots.
Purim this year truly represented the miracle of our nation. After facing so much adversary throughout the years, we will never back down. And we will always dance joyfully on Purim!
