The name Chaim Shaul ben Chana is familiar to anyone who regularly studies newly released sichos, maamarim and igros from the Rebbe published by Vaad Hanochok B’lahak.
It is printed inside the cover of the weekly booklet published by Lahak, modestly crediting its director Rabbi Chaim Shaul Brook for the work he does from their offices at Lubavitch World Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway.
So you could imagine the wide concern when the name Chaim Shaul ben Chana appeared on the Global Coronavirus Tehillim List asking for the public to daven on his behalf. After being infected with coronavirus, he was rushed to the hospital by Hatzalah this past Shabbos Parshas Pekudei.
Those who are regularly inspired by Lahak’s releases of the Rebbe’s teachings sprung into action and organized learning on a conference call in his merit.
During that call, Oklahoma Shliach Rabbi Ovadia Goldman suggested that they took action as well, and dedicate the 70th volume of Toras Menachem to the recovery of Rabbi Brook.
Within 12 hours, $50,000 was raised to sponsor the full cost of editing and publishing the 70th volume of the Rebbe’s sichos and maamarim.
On three different days, special visits to the Rebbe’s Ohel was made with a report of the names of those who are learning in merit of Rabbi Brook and donated to the Lahak.
“With each passing day, we saw an improvement of his condition,” a friend of his told COLlive.com.
The visits were made by Director of JEM Rabbi Elkana Shmotkin; Rabbi Levi Slonim, Shliach in Binghamton, NY; Rabbi Yaakov Raskin, the Shliach in Jamaica who is currently in New York.
By last night, Motzoei Shabbos Parshas Vayikra, Rabbi Brook made a remarkable recovery and was discharged from the hospital to return home to his family.
The public is being asked to daven for Rabbi Yisroel Shimon Kalmenson, a member of the editorial team of Lahak, who is also infected with coronavirus. Please say Tehillim for Yisroel Shimon ben Bas Sheva and all those who need a recovery.
