Professor Lawrence H. Schiffman, Chair of New York University’s Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies Professor of Hebrew and Judaic Studies, was the guest of The Shul in Bal Harbour in Florida this past Wednesday.
Titled Scholars, Scrolls & Scandals, his lecture discussed the Dead Sea Scrolls and the history of Judaism.
Over 200 men and women including Rabbi Sholom Ber Lipskar were on hand listening how the scrolls that were found between 1947 and 1956 have oprned a new chapter in the study of Judaism in a crucial period in its development.
The lecture was credited through the Chaim Yakov Shlomo College of Jewish Studies.
