The Hon. Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, took part in a Menorah lighting ceremony in his office in the Langevin Building in Ottawa.
Rabbi Berel Mockin, Director of Chabad Quebec, Rabbi Dovid Hayes, Director of Chabad Ottawa and Rabbi Chaim Mendelsohn, Director of Public Affairs for the Canadian Federation of Chabad Lubavitch, together with five children from Rambam Day School were invited to participate in the ceremony.
The children eloquently conveyed their pride at being able to celebrate Chanukah with their Prime Minister. Following the lighting the Prime Minister gave the children the traditional chocolate coins as a gift.
