Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited New York City on Thursday, marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel and concluding his three-day diplomatic trip to the United States.
Earlier in the week, President Herzog addressed a Joint Meeting of Congress in Washington, DC where he spoke of the US and Israel friendship, and met with President Joe Biden.
President Herzog traveled from Washington, DC to New York City via Amtrak train; a photo of him surrounded by fellow travelers was shared on Twitter by @Lahav Harkov.

Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban met with President Herzog at police headquarters on Thursday. Adams spoke briefly to reporters after the meeting, where he called New York the “Tel Aviv of America.”
“We’re not silent partners. We fight together against terrorism, against assaults, and we’re going to continue to lift each other up,” Adams said. “So it was good to have the president here.”
“President Herzog is a steadfast friend of our city, and, as we celebrate Israel’s 75th anniversary this year, I want to be clear that New York City and Israel share an unbreakable bond. I thank the president for meeting with me and NYPD Commissioner Caban today. We had productive discussions on how New York City and Israel can continue to collaborate on issues such as security, antisemitism, terrorism, and technology,” Mayor Adams said.
“I am proud to be the mayor of the city with the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, but we are also not blind to the fact that many of the verbal attacks being thrown at all of our diverse communities are coming from a minority fringe. And friends are not silent when their friends are under attack. New York City would not be the city we are today without our Jewish community, our Muslim community, our Sikh, and Christian communities, and so many other rich and diverse cultures and religions. As we continue to work to defeat hate, I am proud to stand with President Herzog.”
