This Shabbos brought hundreds of Jewish children together for an inspiring experience of singing, meals, and friendship. Now, it’s just one day away from the moment they’ve all been waiting for.
For months, hundreds of Hebrew School kids around the world have been focused on one thing—Living Jewish. Studying their textbooks in between soccer practice, homework sessions, and dinner time, kids were more motivated than ever to learn about their Jewish heritage in their free time.
Now, after all their hard work studying, reviewing, and taking tests, these kids will get the chance they’ve been waiting for—to represent their Hebrew schools on stage at the grand finale of the JewQ International Torah Championship event this Sunday.
Rabbi Yehoshua Lustig, of Chidon Sefer Hamitzvos fame, who is also an Oholei Torah principal, will be the event’s emcee. A guest performance by Rabbi Shmuel Marcus of 8th Day will keep the crowd entertained. And a panel of three accomplished female judges will make sure champions truly know their stuff—Judge Ruchie Freier, a civil court judge for the state of New York; Professor Eve Krakowski, an accomplished author and teacher at Princeton University; and Mrs. Mushky Loewenthal, co-director of CKids and creator of the successful IsraelQuest curriculum.
Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Vice Chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, will give a highly-anticipated keynote address to the champions and their parents. “These kids are the future of our Jewish nation and they’ve worked extremely hard to get here,” Rabbi Kotlarsky says. “This is a big moment for all of them.”
Besides a lively and fast-paced game show with the JewQ champions, an engaging “Are you smarter than a JewQ champion” trivia game will include the audience for a chance to win fun prizes.
After a Shabbos full of inspiration at the JewQ Shabbaton, families around the world are looking forward to this global celebration of Jewish children and the Torah.
