A 16-year-old bochur who was visiting from Postville, Iowa is in critical condition after being struck by a car in Crown Heights on Thursday evening.
The bochur was heading home at 12:45 am, crossing Eastern Parkway near Albany Avenue, when he was hit by a car which ran through a red light, just as the victim was about to step onto the sidewalk.
The car accelerated and went speeding past the light, as the driver sped up to cross the intersection before the waiting traffic began to drive, bystanders who witnessed the accident said.
The impact caused the victim to be thrown in the air, and he was left unconscious on the street. He was taken to Kings County Hospital where he is currently in critical condition.
His family is asking that everyone have him in mind in their prayers and say kapital 17 for Yosef Yitzchok Dovid ben Sigalit for a full and quick recovery.
The family is also requesting that anyone who has any information or saw any part of the incident reach out to: [email protected] or 563-605-1995.
