The writing of a new Torah has begun in memory of Rabbi Benny Wolff, the beloved Chabad Shliach in Hanover, Germany, who tragically passed away at the age of 43.
As reported on COLlive.com, his wife Mrs. Shternie Wolff has made the heroic decision to bury her husband in the city of their Shlichus and to continue running the Chabad Jewish Center on her own.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Wolff and Greenberg families have been sitting Shiva in isolation in their respective city of residence.
Rabbi Benny’s father Rabbi Meni Wolff, Director of Kehot publications in Israel, was seen sitting by the window of his house in Kiryat Malachi’s Nachlas Har Chabad neighborhood being comforted by friends and neighbors.
A Charidy campaign to support her and the Shlichus has raised 1 million euros and then spilled over into a bonus round whose aim was to raise another half a million euros. (Click here to donate.)
On Friday, Rabbi Chaim Kaplan, Head Shliach of Tzfas, announced the commission of a new Torah to be written in his memory of Rabbi Wolff, who is his cousin.
He said the goal is to have the Torah, written at Otzar Hastam of Chabad in Tzfas, will be completed by the first yartzeit and it will be donated to Chabad in Hanover.
“We write it with the hope that until it is completed, Chabad of Hanover will be united with all Chabad centers around the world and the Holy Land in the final redemption,” Rabbi Kaplan stated.
Sending love to Hanover, Germany from a Crown Heights resident. I love the Rebbe’s Shluchim.
Thank you for the inspiration.
