Colel Chabad will hold its International Awards Dinner Thursday, December 17, at the Grand Ballroom of the New York Hilton.
It will be “celebrating the linking of generations,” and its charitable work in Israel since 1788.
One of the honorees will be Yosef Yitzchak Popack and his wife Penina of the Five Towns in Long Island.
A property owner in Crown Heights, Popack has been donating to various community and educational organizations in the New York area and in Israel.
His father, Reb Shmuel Isaac Popack has been a Colel Chabad supporter for many years. In fact, Colel Chabad have been searching for reports to the Rebbe with his name included.
“Reb Yossi displays an extraordinary concern for the Rebbe’s mosdos and anything to do with the Rebbe’s kavod and helping another Yid,” Rabbi Sholom Duchman, Executive Director of Colel Chabad, told COLlive.
“As seen by his many involvements, from fixing up the area near the Ohel to when he is called upon to help a widow – he is always there with a smile and gut vort. That’s why we are so proud to honor a man like him.”
Other honorees include Matthew and Nicole Levinson, Ethan and Jamie Levinson and Albert and Shelly Antebi.
A keynote address will be delivered by Israel’s Minister for Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Yuli Edelstein.
