Colel Chabad in Tzfas expanded its Pesach holiday activities due to the worldwide health crisis caused by the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, which has resulted in a national emergency in Israel in general, and Tzfas in particular.
One day, everything simply stopped – completely. Families don’t know what to do. Their financial situation was a very difficult one under normal circumstances, and now. They are crying out for help!
Then there came the angels of Colel Chabad Tzfas.
R’ Yossi Popack, together with his wife Batsheva, provides assistance prior to each Jewish holiday for the residents of the Holy City of Tzfas. He established the Colel Market supermarket for the benefit of local customers, enabling them to make reasonably priced purchases in a spacious, clean, and orderly location with a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere. This year, they have made a special charitable contribution to help these people in dealing with the current coronavirus crisis.
The Popacks arranged for 500 families to receive a special financial grant and a substantial food package of fruits and vegetables worth hundreds of shekels, making it easier for them to celebrate the Pesach holiday in a befitting and proper manner.
For the Popacks, Ahavas Yisrael is not just a slogan – it’s a way of life.
The distribution took place in an orderly fashion, in accordance with the guidelines of the Israel Ministry of Health, at specific distribution points publicized in advance.
This activity joins a growing list of major Colel Chabad projects, including generous financial assistance to families for purchasing all necessary supplies to help make the Seder night at home. (Many of these families normally go away for Yomtov, yet they were under travel and other restrictions due to the COVID 19 crisis.)
In addition, Colel Chabad gave out hundreds of sets of games and pizzas during the intense Pesach preparations for many families under quarantine, lifting their morale and spirit in this most difficult time.
