Teachers of one Jewish boys school in Crown Heights will be receiving a gift for Chanukah, COLlive.com has learned.
Checks of $180 will be given to the educational staff at the elementary school of Oholei Torah Educational Institute as a token of appreciation by Yossi Popack, a property owner and philanthropist.
Popack was recently honored at the school’s annual dinner for dedicating Oholei Torah’s new preschool building in memory of his late father, R’ Shmuel Aizik Popack OBM.
This is not the first monetary gift being given to teachers in the Brooklyn neighborhood. In the past, various donors made donations for Pesach helping the hardworking and underpaid educators for their tireless work.
I remember Yossi playing basketball in Yeshiva on Bedford Avenue Between Bergen & Dean Streets. A talented & superb ball player.
Just as you “swished” the basket ball through the hoops. So shall you and your family, also your loved ones, be merited to a beautful life.
Kol Ha Kavod to all our menchanchim.
May you always have what you need, in the zchus of helping our children.
I am a teacher and it surprises me how some parents won’t even write a thank you note to me,
they know good and well how hard a job it is (one of them is himself a teacher!!)
lets not forget the tremendous chesed he did on pesach sponsoring thousands for matzah i CH ..SHCOIACH!
will we get too?
Many of these comments sound like the ones I hear at home from my kids. You give one child something and unless you give all the siblings too they feel slighted.
godol zchusoi, Chanukah gelt to the Melamdei Tashbar
WHAT ABOUT THE WOMEN TEACHERS?!
amazing
why arent the teachers in mesivta lubavitch yeshiva also getting, arent they underpaid as well?
Mr popack has no obligation to sponsor anything. He has the right to ise his money in the way he wants.
As a parents whos kids are in darchai menachem, im surprise to know under the conditions that teachets and paras work for
Do they get? Or is this a men-only policy? I agree with # 3, women teachers get bubkes. In some cases, they don’t even get paid what they’re owed! A little Hakores Hatov for them is in order, not just for the Rebbes.
Teachers are so hardworking, so underpaid, unappreciated, easily criticized and also easy targets to incriminate. They triely deserve such thanks.
And thank u for caring for our rebbeim, I’m just a bit sad my kids rebbis in Lubavitcher yeshiva are not getting, but still am honorable act that will hopefully inspire others.
Yossi what you’re doing is beautiful
You should go from strength to strength
A very happy Chanukah
why do the women who are the teachers of the girls school in Crown Heights never get any gifts? on chanuka, or b4 pesach? like the men get $ for a hat etc
