On Thursday Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and top leadership at the 71st precinct held a council meeting to address the rise in crime in Crown Heights in recent weeks, which included an assault on a student on Lefferts Avenue and a brick thrown through a window at Chovevei Torah Yeshiva, which struck and injured a student.
Many Crown Heights residents and activists attended to show their concern that action is taken to correct the situation and efforts are made to protect the community.
Peter Simonetti, Commanding Officer of the 71st Precinct said that arrests had been made in a number of the incidents, however residents were quite vocal about being dissatisfied with the amount the police were doing.
