Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement from Ottawa, Ontario, in response to the situation in Israel:
“The indiscriminate rocket attacks from Gaza on Israel are terrorist acts, for which there is no justification. It is evident that Hamas is deliberately using human shields to further terror in the region.
“Failure by the international community to condemn these reprehensible actions would encourage these terrorists to continue their appalling actions. Canada calls on its allies and partners to recognize that these terrorist acts are unacceptable and that solidarity with Israel is the best way of stopping the conflict.
“Canada is unequivocally behind Israel. We support its right to defend itself, by itself, against these terror attacks, and urge Hamas to immediately cease their indiscriminate attacks on innocent Israeli civilians.
“Canada reiterates its call for the Palestinian government to disarm Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist groups operating in Gaza, including the Iranian proxy, Palestinian Islamic Jihad.”

In a speech in 2010, Prime Minister Stephen Harper says he is prepared to suffer any political backlash that comes his way for speaking out against anti-Israel rhetoric.
In related news, U.S. Congressman Trent Franks from Arizona, the Co-Chair of the Israel Allies Caucus, attacked President Barack Obama‘s response to the continuous rocket attacks on Israel.
“Half of all Israelis have sought cover in bomb shelters across their tiny country,” he said, “and the Obama administration has had the reprehensible gall to praise Abbas as someone who is, quote, ‘committed to non-violence and cooperation with Israel.'”
Rep. Franks went on to accuse Obama of conducting a “flushed and breathless rush to embrace terrorists,” and an “unprecedented act of cowardice and betrayal” towards Israel, the only democracy and strongest American ally in the Middle East, according to tpnn.com.
“I thought that nothing this president could ever say or do would surprise me anymore. But this president’s flushed and breathless rush to embrace terrorists launching rockets at Israeli children is an unprecedented act of cowardice and betrayal.”
What a terrific man, let all live in peace together
He is truly a blessing. May he be blessed.
To #5 YOU ARE TOTALLY WRONG.
The Harper government has committed and already started sending a small fortune to Israel, which can be seen on the Canada Israel web site.
HE DOES BOTH, PRAISES ISRAEL & PUTS HIS MONEY WHERE HIS MOUTH IS!!!!
Unlike MOST other leaders, especially in the USA where the president is very obviously pro Muslim.
not just a give away… to put his country in more depth 🙁
He DID initiate/set up make huge economic trade with Israel when he was there this passed year!
A Prime Minister like Harper, or maybe even better, Putin. Putin for sure would clean up the cancerous growth that it Hamas, the PLO, etc. in no time flat. And we wouldn’t have to listen to Bibi impress himself with ‘We Build, They Destroy’ shallow lip service that will never bring back the dead or cure those who are injured and missing loved ones.
How does giving money affect this issue at all?
Because USA gives money it’s ok to support terrorist groups?
Hmm… I wonder?
Allies are only as good as what they bring to the table. Moral support is nice, but money and weapons wins every day.
Who is giving them money and weapons?
They need allies more.
I applaud Harper for his unwavering support of Israel, but I wouldn’t rush to put down other nations so fast.
Harper doesn’t give billions of dollars to Israel each year, nor does he supply Israel with weapons. It’s nice that he verbally stands behind Israel, but that’s about as far as he goes.
There are verbally supportive friends, and then there are friends who actually give.
Prome Minister Harper is a true OIHAIV YIROEL.
ALL CANADIANS are very proud of him. A TRUE MENTCH!!
Halevai you Americans should have such a mentch for a president!!
Yes Stephen Harper is 100 /. Right
חסידי אומות העולם – G-d bless him!
What a breath of fresh air!
A rare statesman with actual courage!
For showing clearly who are the Jewish people’s friends and who are not. Shame on you Obama !!
Hooray Stephen Harper, next Election in Canada yet another Majority…you deserve it !!
