Please Help 3 Year Old Mendy

Hi! My name is Mendy, just 2 month ago I turned three years old and I celebrated my Upsherenish. I am a very sweet boy, but I cannot do anything by myself, I can’t turn over from side to side and I defiantly cannot sit, stand or walk. What every normal child can do at a much younger age, I cannot do. I can’t even raise my head, it just falls down.

I was born to the most amazing parents, and Shluchim of the Rebbe in Israel, who do everything they can to help me and don’t spare any chance to make my life better. I have an older sister Chanie that is 4 years old and a younger brother Yankey that is 1 and a half years old. Yankey is very sweet, he walks already and even started to say a few words, like Mommy and Tatty, words that I never said. But you can help me grow and develop, until I can by a child like all children.

Let me tell you my story.

I was born just after 26 weeks of pregnancy, I was so small just 965 Grams (2 pounds and 1oz). I spent the first 3 month of my life connected to a respirator, With Hashem’s help and the effort of the dedicated staff; I came home a healthy child.

But to my great sorrow, I was given just a few weeks to function as a regular child. on the 3rd day of Chanukah, my mother realized that I am pale and apathetic, my parents rushed me to the emergency room where the doctors discovered that I was in a great danger, my vital organ’s where starting to collapse, they worked very hard to save my life, but from then on everything changed…

Our Mendy was hospitalized in the Intensive care unit sedated and connected to a respirator.

During the treatment there was a medical malfunction with the respirator and Mendy had to be Resuscitated, the Resuscitation took a ‘little’ too long (45 minutes) and by the time it was over, our Mendy was not the same, the doctors’ prognosis was that Mendy would be a vegetable, heaven forbid.

After 2 month of intensive testing, Mendy was diagnosed as a severe case of Cerebral palsy (CP).

With Hashem’s Help, we found a method called TheraSuit that has helped Mendy tremendously in the last year and a half. The doctors and therapists are very impressed by the drastic improvement in so many of his skills, and are predicting that by continuing this treatment he can be a fully functioning child, although at this time he is still mostly paralyzed.

The only obstacle in the way of his recovery is money; this unique therapy costs $54,000.00 a year! and is not covered by medical insurance. As his mother is not working for the last few years, and his father is devoted to his Shlichus, we barely made it till now thanks to the help of family and friends, but we came to a point that we simply can no longer continue this therapy, as we are struggling with putting bread on the table.

How can we deprive our dear son from his only chance of living as a normal child? We must continue! But we simply can’t do without your help.
