This recipe series is brought to you by Kettle & Cord, the homegoods store in Crown Heights. Today we’re joined by a special guest in the kitchen: Chef Naomi Nachman, celebrated author of the Perfect Flavors cookbook and host of Kosher.com’s Sunny Side Up show.
On today’s menu: Pizza with a salami & salad twist.
This pizza recipe combines savory BBQ flavors with fresh lemony mustard salad dressing to create a culinary masterpiece that is easy to make at home. The pizza is cooked in the new Breville Smart Oven – an all-in-one countertop oven complete with a designated pizza setting.
Watch below as Naomi, with her trademark Australian flair, presents her Salami Pizza recipe.
You will need:
DOUGH
¾ Cup Warm Water (No hotter than 115°f )
1 Packet (2 1/4 Tsp) Instant Dry Yeast
1 Tsp Sugar
2 Cups Flour
1 Tsp Kosher Salt
PIZZA
½ Cup Barbecue Sauce
½ Cup Mayonnaise
1 (14-16 Ounce) Salami, Thinly Sliced
½ Red Onion, Sliced (Reserve the rest
for the salad below, if desired)
SALAD
3 Cups Arugula
½ Pint Cherry Tomatoes, Halved
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
½ Tsp Mustard
½ Tsp Kosher Salt
1 Clove Garlic, Minced
Directions:
Combine water, yeast, and sugar in a medium bowl; proof for 5 minutes, until bubbling.
Add flour and salt; knead for 2-3 minutes until flour is well blended and a dough ball forms.
Cover; let rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.
Preheat oven to 450°f. Line the circular pan with parchment paper. Roll the pizza dough into a circle and into the pan.
In a small bowl, mix together barbecue sauce and mayonnaise. Spread about half the mixture in a thin layer on the rolled out pizza dough, reserving the remainder for the topping.
Top pizza with slices of salami and onion, distribut-ing both evenly.
Bake for about 15 minutes, until the edges of the crust are starting to brown.
Meanwhile, prepare the salad: place arugula and cherry tomatoes into a medium bowl. Add remain-ing red onion if desired. Whisk together oil, lemon juice, mustard, salt and garlic until combined.
Just before serving, add desired amount of dressing to bowl; toss to coat.
Spread salad over hot pizza; drizzle with reserved barbecue sauce mixture.
