The first week of this summer at Pioneers Camp has been filled with excitement, learning, and meaningful experiences. Campers arrived ready for adventure, and they’ve already taken part in a variety of activities that combined fun, skill-building, and connection to Yiddishkeit all in the beautiful outdoors!
We started off with important knife and fire safety training, giving campers the knowledge and confidence to handle tools responsibly. From there, they jumped into hands-on projects like building outdoor shelters and learning how to move comfortably in the wilderness.
Our first hike of the summer was a scenic trail that led to a real caving experience. Campers explored underground passages, supported each other through the challenge, and celebrated with a refreshing swim in a nearby river.
The natural setting of camp makes for an especially beautiful davening each morning, often overlooking the green mountains. Campers also learned Chassidus in small, engaging groups, bringing the ideas to life in a calm and thoughtful environment.
Alongside hiking, learning, and swimming, campers enjoyed sports, games, and even tried their hand at knife throwing, a fun and focused new skill that quickly became a favorite.
It’s been a great first week at Pioneers Camp. The campers are settling in, trying new things, and enjoying the rhythm of camp life. We’re looking forward to what the next few weeks will bring!
