A much requested and needed work on the ‘Upsherin’ tradition has been written by Rabbi DovBer Pinson, renowned scholar and lecturer.
This book began when Rabbi Pinson’s second son became Upsherin, shortly after he moved on Shlichus and founded the IYYUN Center for Jewish Enrichment in BoCoCa, Brooklyn.
Looking for material on the Upshernish tradition and ceremony, Rabbi Pinson realized that there was nothing written on the Upsherin tradition in a single volume. In fact, although this is a widespread custom, becoming popular recently even with the less observant, there was very little common knowledge as to the source of this custom and its spiritual significance.
Thus began ‘Upsherin’, with the first few chapters printed in honor of Pinson’s second son’s Upsherin, and the final chapters completed for his third son’s Upsherin last year.
Now it has been published as a softcover book, and is great for anyone interested in the significance of the Upsherin, or looking to learn more about hair covering and the general understanding of hair in Kabbalah and Chassidus.
Also included in the book is a complete guide to the upshernish ceremony, important for anyone making an upshernish.
‘Upsherin’ is available at Barnes and Noble, Jewish bookstores and Amazon.
Goldstein of Oholei torah gathered all the minhagim about Arainfirenish. an amazing job.

What are you talking about? Yossi Serebryanski wrote a book about it more than 20 years ago.
It may be a nice book but with all due respect there are others out there. And in English there is a wonderful booklet by Rabbi Touger which we used (with other sources) to put together a booklet for our son’s upshernish 3. 1/2 years ago.
keep it up piny
A very practical book that I am sure will be very popular especially with shluchim. I know that for my own sons’ upsherns I could not find any info and would have loved a book like this!
Go Rabbi Pinson!!!!
