Melbourne’s ARK Centres Rabbi Gabi and Mushka Kaltmann have been hosting the ‘Pillars of Light’ festival with Gandel Philanthropy and Federation Square in the CBD over eight evenings of Chanukah.
The summer vibes, warm weather and a renewed sense of optimism that the Victorian community have overcome the worst of the COVID-19 crisis in Victoria is contributing to the exceptionally good mood around town.
The eight nights of events will be dedicated to showcasing the Chanukah lights and spirit for the whole community. After such a difficult year, Rabbi Gabi and Mushka have been leading these events from the front by inviting a raft of guests, dignitaries and community leaders to celebrate Chanukah in public. Guests were asked to sign the “Pillars of Light” leaving a message of hope or a good deed they have committed to do for the wider community.
The event was opened by Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp on the first night of Channuka. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews stopped by to have a famous Glicks Latke and play dreidel with the Kaltmann children. NBL owner Larry Kestleman, as well as other politicians, faith leaders community members, have also been in attendance including the US Consul General Michael F. Kleine.
Brilliant! Der Rebbes a soldaat!
Daniel Andrews is a left wing politician who does not support religious freedom. The real message of Chanukah is lost on many!
The main thing is you all had a good time and that’s the most important thing
