Here is the story behind the photo as related by one of the bystanders:
Shmuly Bronstein of Crown Heights was visiting the Kotel in Jerusalem this past Motzoei Shabbos with another 95 bochurim attending the Yeshivas Tzeirei Hashluchim summer program in Tzfas for English speakers.
As they were preparing to take a group photo with the staff members, Shmulie suddenly parted from the bunch and hurried over to a young boy and began chatting.
Turns out the boy’s name is Shlomo Skolnik, a finalist of the 2012 Junior Jewish Star international singing competition. Bronstein, described as a big fan of the annual contest, was not going to miss the opportunity.
Bronstein was really happy to see him and started singing, with Skolnik happily joining. It didn’t long before a crowd of over 120 people surrounded them and clapped along.
One of the bochurim ran to get a cellphone and snapped a photo of the two stars.
he most probaly made shmuly bronstiens day[and his own] and it did not take too much time 1 small deed could change a lot
it is nice to see other people caring even if he is a star
From Lima, Peru: shout out to Shmuly!

Looking great! Sorry we missed that performance, we’re sure it was awsome! Missing you here! Enjoy the rest of it…regards to our Sruly. 🙂 love the Wilhelms
Unreal- what an inspiration he is, nothing stops shmuly. And to the program that accepts ALL children regardless of a labels. Lets put our differences aside and focus on what we all have in common. May other organizations and programs follow., and stop discriminating against our kids. Obviously credit to shmulys family and friends for making this possible.
Shmuley I’m sooooooooo proud of you. You are the best
