Phony $100 and $50 bills are flooding New York city — and the feds want your help to stop the high-quality fakes.
The funny money, on paper that seems genuine and with watermarks and imbedded strips, looks so real that it can easily fool stores and even banks, they say.
So US Secret Service investigators have circulated posters showing the bogus bills’ tiny imperfections, which include a flawed “T” in “STATES” on the $100 and a minuscule dot inside the “5” on the $50.
Investigators seized $148,000 of substitute loot in New York last week, including $97,000 in a raid near JFK, and $65 million last year in the United States, $10 million of it from Peru.
Genuine notes have small red and blue threads in the paper that look like tiny hairs. The fiber, 70 percent cotton and 30 percent linen, is almost impossible to reproduce, with a slightly rough texture and heavier feel than the fakes, agents said.
from personal experience i can tell you how this works… the SECRET SERVICE will come down and take the phony money and give you a written receipt for collecting the “contraband”… you do not get any real money in exchange… sorry you lose…

obviously you have no clue how the economy works. if the feds print too much money than the value of the dollar goes down. and they can only print how ever much gold is in fort knox. basically by printing fake money you’re printing money that is extra and has no value in gold therefore disrupting the economy(especially on such a large scale like this) learn your facts number 3

What makes the Fed’s money real? It is not becked by anything. They print money when they want more and they destroy it when they want less. The US dollar is no more sound than monopoly money that your kids play with. It is only that the Fed has the power to put you in jail that it can make people use its money over “fake” money, but really it just as fake. The source of most of the phony bills going around are from the Federal Reserve. They were taken off the gold standard years ago, and the difference between the Federal Reserve (which is about as federal as Federal Express) printing and you printing, is you go to jail, and the federal reserve prints with impunity from prosecution.
