The family of Nosson Deitsch marked the end of the 7-day Shiva mourning Sunday with printing an edition of the Tanya in his memory.
Gathered at their mother’s home on Crown Street in Crown Heights, Nosson’s siblings pressed the start button on the copy machine to begin the printing.
Deitsch, 21, a Smicha student at the Chabad Yeshiva Gedolah of Greater Miami, was well versed in the fundamental text of Chabad Chassidic philosophy written by Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi in the 18th century.
In 1978, the Rebbe initiated a campaign that the Tanya should be printed in every country in the world. The Deitsch Tanya was edition number 5,565.
“65 is significant because of the 53 chapters of Likutai Amorim and 12 chapters of Igeres Hatshuva which Nosson knew by heart,” a family member noted.
