Texas Governor Rick Perry, the Republican presidential front-runner for 2012, is calling on the U.S. to cut humanitarian aid if the campaign for United Nations Security Council recognition of Palestinian statehood continue.
In an op-ed published last week in the Jerusalem Post and Wall Street Journal, Perry argued how it was a “mistake for President Obama to distance himself from Israel and seek engagement with the hostile regimes in Syria and Iran.”
He said that the $550 million the Obama administration is seeking to secure in funding for Palestinians should be cut if the statehood efforts continue.
“The United States must not condone and legitimize through our assistance a regime whose actions are in direct opposition to a peace agreement with our ally Israel, and in direct opposition to our own vital interests,” he wrote.
Politico.com is reporting that Perry spent two days in New York a host of Jewish leaders, among them World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder, former Bush adviser Dan Senor, hedge fund manager and major donor Paul Singer and Malcolm Hoenlein of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.
One source told Politico that Perry spoke “at length” on the topic of Israel and what he called President Obama’s “incoherent” policy.

YOUR WRONG! they get it from your driver’s license! Either way, we all have to agree we must get Obummer out of office of we will be doomed. Vote for the primaries, vote next year for the presidential election! Our opinion matters!
Libertarians do not believe in any economic or military involvement or support outside America’s borders.
He can’t cut the aid. Congress has to. If they can’t get the votes there is nothing doing. Stop falling for the political traps/plays. The man has no interest in allowing American Jews to have freedom of religion here in this country. Besides a few months ago he was calling for Texas to succeed from the Union! The man can’t even stay in his own state and help solve a crisis while there is one, he gave over his job to his number two and is off busy campaigning. Is this really who you want running the country? Someone in… Read more »
