Israeli President Shimon Peres ended a diplomatic visit to Russia today, with a meeting with President Dmitri Medvedev, aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.
In a rare event, Medvedev received the Israeli President at his estate in the resort town of Sochi, where Russia’s wealthy elite vacation.
After meeting with Medvedev, Peres met with Chabad Shliach in Sochi, Rabbi Aryeh Eidelkop.
Eidelkop told the President about the Jewish activities in the region, accomplished with the support of philanthropist Lev Leviev.
Peres expressed great interest in the local events, and Rabbi Eidelkop related to Peres about the beautiful building which will soon be built to accommodate programs for local Jews and the thousands of tourists who visit each year for vacation and business.
Upon hearing Rabbi Eidelkop’s report, Peres expressed great emotion.
“You have warmed my heart,” the president said.
“You are doing holy work. I met hundreds of Chabad Shluchim in Jerusalem, at a conference held a few months ago, which I will not forget for a long time.”
Aryeh, Hirshel and I wish you all the best for Hatzlacha, Gezent Parnasah and Nachas and everything should be done with a good Mazal. A Kisivah V’Chasimah Tovah L’Shanah Tovah U’Mesukah. The same goes for Chanie.

Maybe the shluchim should remind him of what the Rebbe told him and other government figures plus what the Rebbe said at the farbrengens about shlemus haaretz, mihu yehudi , speaking to the arabs about peace and other topics concerning the Jewish people & Israel.
