A crowd of Lubavitch and Satmar chassidim filled Congregation Schenur Zalman in Monroe this past week for a simcha where they all felt like family.
They came to partake in the bris ceremony for the son of Dr. Vladimir (Zev) Zelenko, a respected family physician, and his wife Sima Chana Zelenko.
The celebration took place at the 9 year-old congregation located in Zelenko’s medical offices which treats many local Jewish families.
Honored as the sandak was Rabbi Schneur Zalman Gafni, Rosh Yeshiva of Ohr Tmimim in Kfar Chabad, Israel.
“We all were very happy to be there to share in the simcha,” said one of the participants. “Reb Zev is always available to help anyone in need and we are lucky to have him.”

Zev is amazing! An inspiration! (By the way he trained to do milah just so he could fulfill the mitzvah with his own kinder) He has made incredible bridges between Lubavitch and Satmar earning the respect of the Satmar community and restoring good relationships. Whilst wearing a yechi yarmulke and being shtark in chassidus chabad! Anyone who knows him knows he is a pure, tmimusdike person with no netiyos or ulterior motives. Kol Hakavod and may the newborn grow up to torah chupah and maasim tovim
