The grand celebration of the completion and inauguration of the 10th Sefer Torah Haklali, the Jewish Unity Torah will be held in Israel this week.
Written in light of the Rebbe’s instructions for times of war, the goal of this unique Torah is to unite the Jewish people. The hundreds of thousands of letters of this Sefer Torah were sponsored by the public. Each letter was dedicated to an IDF soldier, member of the Israeli security forces, resident of the Gaza envelope, hostage, or person wounded in action, who personally registered for this purpose.
The completion of this special Torah will be celebrated in a unique and unprecedented way. The procession will make stops in Sderot, Kibutz Re’im, and other sites of the Simchas Torah attacks. The final stop of the siyum will be in Ofakim, where the Sefer Torah will be welcomed into Chabad of Ofakim’s 770 center, which serves as a headquarters for Chabad activities in southern Israel. This series of events will be attended by thousands of soldiers, residents of southern Israel, and guests from across Israel, and will be broadcast live around the world.
For past siyum celebrations of the Sefer Hatorah Haklali initiative, the Rebbe issued a bakashah nafshis (soul-request) to the public to “participate in the siyum physically and financially.” The event organizers are calling on the public to answer the Rebbe’s call and contribute to help produce this historic celebration. Donations towards the event will earn special souvenirs as well as entry to a raffle for uniquely valuable items, including dollars and coins distributed by the Rebbe, and a page with the Rebbe’s holy handwriting.
