This past Shabbos Parshas Ki Sisa, Yeshivas Beis Dovid Shlomo in New Haven, CT hosted a Shabbos Hoirim for parents of the mesivta Talmidim.
Over 45 parents drove and flew in from across the country to spend Shabbos with their children in the Yeshiva environment and to experience how their sons spend time in Yeshiva.
The Shabbos started with parents learning the Friday night seder sichos with their son. A practical halacha shiur was given by the Menahel Rabbi Yosef Lustig and was followed by a seder nigunim led by Rabbi Zalman Roth.
A sicha explaining the matbeah shel aish al pi chasidus was then beautifully chazered by Hatomim in Shiur bais Moshe Krasiniansky, son of shliach to Hawaii. A hartziken and freilichen kabolas Shabbos Davening was led by Yudi Green from Baltimore.
The seudas Shabbos was spent at hosts in the New Haven community, where the guests had a chance to get acquainted with the local Lubavitcher community. Farbrengens followed in many homes with some of the visiting parents.
Shabbos morning began with a full Beis Medrash of parents and students learning maamorei chasidus which was followed by a lavish breakfast.
Davening was led by Hashliach to North Carolina Rabbi Pinchas Herman and the Torah was read by Mendel Wilansky, son of shliach to Maine. Musaf was led by Rabbi Roth.
The seudas Shabbos was an uplifting experience, with divrei torah from the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Kalmanson, the Menahel Rabbi Lustig, Magidai shiur Rabbi Zalman Roth and Rabbi Gershon Bornstein and Yeshiva Mashpiah Rabbi Eli Bogart.
The crowd was honored to be addressed by Shluchim Rabbi Hersh Epstein from North Carolina, Rabbi Levi Liberov from Worcester, MA, Rabbi Shokie Deitsch from Northern VA, Rabbi Shea Hecht from Brooklyn, NY and Rabbi Shimon Aaron Rosenfeld.
The rest of the day was spent farbrenging with shluchim parents who inspired and were inspired by the Shabbos hoirim experience.
The Yeshiva is thankful to all who made it happen and to parents who made the effort and showed tremendous support to their sons by spending Shabbos in New Haven.
