A video clip by the greatest Jewish singers promoting The Great Parade on Lag B’Omer has received some 17,520 hits on youtube.com to date.
It united, for the first time in Jewish music history, Mordechai Ben David, Avraham Fried and Lipa Schmeltzer.
“All three never performed together,” an insider told COLlive.com. “It’s the first time in 4 years that MBD and Fried were in the same room singing.”
“Although it was Erev Pesach, they all pulled through and came to the recording in one of many signs of unity that will be displayed at the parade in many more ways.”
“The three and Uncle Moishy all recognized the importance of the parade as something close to the Rebbe’s heart and what it can accomplish with so many yidden,” he added.
The idea was said to have began with Moishy Muchnik, with Elle Wilhelm working on the lyrics with the help of others and Yankee Teitelbaum suggesting to film a video clip.
The four artists came to Crown Heights between 4 and 6 PM, each recording his take with musicians Chony Milecki, Shaya Lieberman and Moshe Horenstein providing music.
Responding to the youtube statistics from the 2 versions posted March 27, the insider said: “We knew the promo would be nice, but this caliber got people real excited. People are calling us to offer their help.”
Efforts are being made to reach out to Jewish kids at public schools, Hebrew Academies, and Yeshivos from all walks of life to attend with parents and families.
There is talk about Shluchim bringing their Chabad House members and Anash flying in with their children from states like Florida and California.
