Chinuch is a topic that often stirs strong, diverse opinions and approaches. Amidst the sea of educational options available in Crown Heights, one might even wonder:
“Hasn’t it all been tried before?”
Meet Sheli Atara Man, the newest addition at Oholei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch.
Originally from the Holy Land, Sheli’s journey has led her to the bustling heart of New York City. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and currently pursuing her Master’s in Education and Special Education, Sheli brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. Her background in business and extensive involvement in directing and advising early childhood preschool centers positions her as a dynamic leader for OYYL.
While not the largest or oldest institution in the vicinity, OYYL’s influence runs deep. In the past year, the school has made significant strides, offering a distinct and exceptional Chassidishe educational experience in a brand new building just heartbeats away from 770. With a dedicated team, the school provides personalized attention, skill-based curriculum with art and music, where students can explore and learn how to be true caretakers of Hashem’s world.
These combined elements create an environment where children are flourishing spiritually, academically, and emotionally.
One of Sheli’s key focuses is instilling ‘Chinuch Al Taharas Hakodesh’ and fostering strong connection to our Rebbe. She believes that every child’s needs can be met within the Torah and Chassidus, and this belief permeates every facet of OYYL’s educational approach.
Currently, she is working tirelessly with both teachers and families, overseeing the educational processes, contributing to curriculum development, and ensuring students are seamlessly integrating into the classroom.
Her greatest satisfaction comes when she sees a student not only engaged in learning, but also comfortable and thriving. Active participation, genuine enthusiasm for the material, and a sense of belonging among their peers―Sheli has seen firsthand that when a child feels truly at home in the classroom, their potential for growth and learning is boundless.
Beyond school walls, Sheli finds joy and meaning in helping children, women and seniors increase in their learning and rekindle a relationship with their heritage.
As OYYL charts new territory and expands its operations, Sheli’s expertise and vision are instrumental in shaping its future. Her energetic approach promises to nurture Chassidishe Chinuch within OYYL, and the wider community as well.
