By Rabbi Shmuly Butler
Tishrei in Crown Heights is powerful – and chaotic. In the middle of it all, there’s one place that simply works: the Tishrei Tent – 5,000 square feet of steady davening and learning, open to everyone.
For years there’s been talk about “expanding 770.” Plans, meetings, renderings. Meanwhile, the only expansion you can actually use today is the Tent. No slogans—just a door you can walk through and breathe.
We don’t sell seats. No membership. This safe haven exists because regular people decide it should.
Here’s my straight ask: if you used the Tent—or want it open tomorrow—donate $180 today. Nothing happens by itself. The budget is $200,000, and I’m inviting you to share the zchus of keeping it going.
If you’re in a position to dedicate a Parnes Hayom, message me here.
It takes a village to build Rome. Partake in this zchus.

Wow, I’m always amazed to see Rabbi Butler actually lives and breathes what he teaches his students – he doesn’t take no for an answer! When something isn’t happening, he doesn’t complain, he makes it happen
If only everyone was like this!
Ty for doing the tent over tishrei! It’s truly a huge Brocha for everyone to daven there!!
On another note, it’s so sad that over the multiple years since the Rebbe asked with all the high people/chassidism/ balibatim etc. no one was able to expand 770 and follow the Rebbes requests…..

its time to build 770. Its a chilul Lubavitch that we don’t expand the Rebbes Shul
Thank you Rabbi Butler for all your incredible work!
Moshiach Now!
Thank you to the entire team for the amazing work
When I encountered yet another op-ed, I anticipated a lengthy, contentious piece. Instead, I discovered a voice that masterfully embodies the art of saying little while doing much, with actions far outweighing words in a manner most praiseworthy. Your eloquence and impact are truly remarkable—thank you for such a refreshing and inspiring contribution To our community
The tent and the beautiful canopy on the women’s balcony are so appreciated. May Hashem bench you all with abundance of good things in all areas.
Rabbi Butler has an incredible Hashpoah on the young Bochurim. He taught my sons with incredible love and Varemkeit and is a tremendous Yid with his heart in the right place. We need more like him. No politics, just Rebbe.

Davening in the tent on Rosh Hashonah is Beautiful. So close to 770 and comfortable with tables, chairs and air conditioning. There is room for everyone. You can even buy an Aliya on Yom Tov. Last year Mendel Feldman sold the aliyos and I was happy to pay 20xchai on Rosh Hashano. I hope to be back next year in Yerushalaim.
