The Nigri International Shluchim Online School, a project of The Shluchim Office that hosts a virtual school for over 1,000 children worldwide, held its 10th Annual Day of Celebration last week.
The annual celebration serves as a once-a-year opportunity for the students of the online school to meet each other face to face, interact and socialize outside of the online classroom setting.
The school is a project of The Shluchim Office under its director Rabbi Gedalya Shemtov, who joined the staff at this year’s celebration event.
The program began with a celebratory banquet luncheon emceed by Rabbi Shmuel Vaisfiche, the school’s Extracurricular Coordinator. Participating parents and children enjoyed a live game show, prizes that the children earned in the proceeding months were raffled off, and an International Roll Call got all the kids on their feet.
Rabbi Moshe Laufer, parent and shliach to Barrington, RI, spoke to the assembled and thanked the teachers and staff who made the school possible for his children.
Student Lazer Zucker, a 4th Grader from Key West, FL, presented a Dvar Torah connected to his shlichus and thanked his Rebbeim for the unique education he receives.
“It was incredible to see how deeply connected the children are despite the vast distance between them. The Day of Celebration really infused a Chayus in the talmidim and Rebbeim to continue their Shlichus Bshimcha,” said Rabbi Yaacov Ringo, principal of the Boys’ Division.
The children spent an enjoyable class session with each of their Rebbeim, together in a “real classroom” for the first and only time this year! Gathering together for a celebratory group picture, they then embarked on a special trip – bowling for the younger grades, and trampolining for the older grades.
